This was taken from the 2nd outlook point.
This drive was broken up into two parts. The first part was considered "Easy" and the second part was "Medium", so a little more challenging. We'll have some shots of the drive along with the views for this on.
This shot is the easy part... |
This was the view from the first overlook. If you're ever in Moab and doing the drives this one is worth the drive. The second outlook is harder to get to so you may or may not want to do it, but this one will blow your socks off so be sure to do it.
BE SURE TO BLOW THIS ONE UP - the Grand Canyon doesn't have anything on Canyon Lands :))

From here on the road gets a little harder but nothing that Mloyl couldn't handle. We're still learning what Mloyl can do and what he can't - though we're hoping not to find out what he can't do - and so far he's done everything we've asked. |
This little ledge was no prolbem nor was the next one a little further up the hill. |
Once we arrived at the second outlook we were again blown away by the views. It was time for our picnic so we found a spot we liked and had this to stare at while we ate.
Again blow these up to really appreciate the beauty of the land. |
There was a cold wind blowing off and on so it was really chilly up here on top of the world as you can tell by honey's outfit.
This show is looking out the other way. From up here it didn't matter where you looked. That's the Colorado river down below. |
But the cold didn't stop the honey from hiking up the hill to catch a glimse of the world from the high spot.
The picture of Mloyl at the top of the page was taken from up here. |
Once we'd had all the scenery we could handle we headed home. This ledge which has a bypass to the left which we'd taken on the way in looked like a good chance to see how high a step Mloyl could take so we gave it a try. The step on the passenger side just barely rubbed, but he walked right up it. |
The camera doesn't really capture how steep some of these things are. This was a steep down with a ledge in the middle of it that's 12 inches or so. I got out of the car to check this one out before we started down it. Take a look at the next shot and you'll see why. |
Anyone seen the road??
Here's what that downhill shot above looks like from the drivers seat. It's one of those look out the side and hope you're lined up the way you planned....
That's Winne the Pooh on the left - he reminds me of the power of "Oh Bother", if you've never read Winne you should. In the center we have Rooster and Chicken Hawk - reminding me to think big it brings to mind the song "High Hopes" and the story of the Little Red Engine. :)) |
There were also a couple of rocky sections where we ran across the rocks. The trail across the rocks was marked with cairns (a little pile of rocks marking the trial) like the one here in this shot. |
The last site for the day was Wine Glass Arch which was on the way home. Blow this one up to get a better view of the arch - really does look a lot like a wine glass or goblet. |
