We found a nice spot with a view of the river and stopped there for our picnic.

Just an great view as we're entering Canyonland Nat'l Park.

Canyonlands Nat'l Park - on the way to the Shafer Switchbacks.

We stopped here for a couple minutes to just get out and stretch and seeing that interesting rock up on the hill I put the honey in postition and got one of those "tourist" shots :))

This is the view back out into the canyon as we just start up the Shafer Switchbacks.

I didn't get many other shots of the view going up the Shafer Switchbacks, I was a little busy driving.

but I did stop and get this one about half way up.

Here's one of the better sections of the road up. There's a "wide spot" so you can let people coming down the hill by if necessary - then it goes back to just wide enough to fit. Not a place where you want the driver to be distracted.

It was a busy day and we did meet several other people coming down the road but we or they always managed to find a wide spot to let the other guy by.

There will be a couple more shots of the switchbacks tomorrow - we're coming back to go down them and out the White Rim Trail to Lathrop Canyon.
