RED BAY, AL - A BIKERS PARADISE

4/20/08 Bike Ride in the area surrounding Red Bay. There are lots of back roads in this area and it's a prime location for riding. Just head out take the first country road you come to and then play at finding your way back out :))

Picnic

The beauty of the area around Red Bay is that the countryside is filled with small country roads. You can just take off down one of these country roads and turn at every cross road winding your way around until you're thoroughly lost and then find your way back out.

We found this little spot in the woods and stopped for a picnic.

And here's one of my favorite photo subjects -

Coon Dog Cemetary

Here's another little gem that we just stumbled onto as we wound our  way through the back roads.

The Coon Dog Cemetary. This is really quite a local attraction and from what they say it's world famous. Started in 1937 when Troop, said to have been one of the best coon dogs to have every lived, died his owner Key Underwood wanted a fitting place to bury him. He picked this spot because it was where they parked and started off from when they hunted together.

If Key were alive today I think he's be real surprised to see that he started what has become a world famous tribute to Coon Dogs.
